As with many other agricultural industries, pig producers across Europe face the challenges of a changing economic and regulatory operating environment. These conditions have resulted in a decrease in profitability across the industry and producers need to become more efficient to be sustainable in the long term. Connecting the producers with academia and advisors through thematic and regional platforms, the EU PIG project aims to address the knowledge gap and give producers the opportunity to find out about and adopt new technologies and innovative practices. Beta will be playing a pivotal role in this exciting EU funded project as Steve Bradley explains:
“With pigmeat representing 9% of total EU agricultural output, EU PIG has the potential to play an important role in increasing the productivity and profitability of the pig industry, and contributing to the overall sustainability of the European agricultural sector.”
