Project Portfolio
NUTRIMENTHE
Nutrimenthe will focus on the research evidence that early nutrition can influence later mental performance, cognitive development and behaviour. The idea that the diet of mothers, infants and children could influence long-term mental performance has major implications for public health practice and policy development, as well as for food product development and economic progress.
Nutrimenthe will build upon the work of another EC funded project EARNEST (www.metabolic-programming.org) by addressing key issues in mental health in European children where diet could play a role e.g. perception, memory, intelligence, anxiety and Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD). These disorders currently have a significant cost impact on European society through increased childcare costs and treatment.
Nutrimenthe is a five year project and is co-ordinated by Prof. Cristina Campoy from the University of Granada, Spain in collaboration with 19 other organisations, including Beta who are responsible for leading on the training and dissemination activities that support the project.
