Beta and other partners in the EU PiG consortium met in Oirschot in The Netherlands on 5th and 6th February 2019, for the project’s annual Consortium and Steering Group meeting. This was organised by EU PiG partner, ZLTO and hosted and chaired by the Project Coordinator, Ben Williams, AHDB.
The first day involved a number of presentations focused on the work and activities currently taking place and the priorities for the next 12 months. Invited speakers and guests included Judith Keijzers-Verschelling, Mayor of the municipality Oirschot, Geert Wilms, Director of Agricultural Innovation Service, Henk Boelrijk, General Manager of Pig Farmers Association NL and the Dutch EU PiG Ambassadors, Kees van der Meijden, Hans Verhoeven, Rick Bosgoed and Hilde Brink. The second day included a visit to ‘Vion Food Group’ Boxtel and a farm visit to ‘De Hoeve’, Valkenswaard.
Beta is the partner responsible for the work package relating to communication and dissemination and for transferring best practice into user friendly tools and materials. Lynsey Greenwood, Consultant at Beta, updated partners about the 2018 EU PiG’s annual Grand Prix winning ambassadors. Sessions also took place regarding opportunities for partners to further disseminate these tools and materials over the next 12 months.
