New research from DynaHEALTH shows that weight loss before puberty significantly reduces the risk of developing type 2 diabetes in adulthood for boys who are overweight. Surprisingly, this reduced risk was similar to those for children who were never overweight.
Beta is playing an important role in disseminating the results from a European research project examining pathways to healthy ageing. These findings have recently emerged from work carried out by researchers from the Center for Clinical Research and Disease Prevention, Bispebjerg and Frederiksberg Hospital, in Denmark. The study showed that being overweight in childhood, adolescence or in early adulthood was associated with up to a 3.5 times higher risk of type 2 diabetes at ages 30-60 years of age or older.
